What strikes you most about your workplace?
I absolutely love the environment I get to work in. Since this is my second year interning at Social Supply Co, I am able to reconnect with those I worked with last year and don't have to move past any awkward stage since I already have adjusted to the work environment. I think this time what strikes me most is how some things haven't changed - the relaxed attitudes of my colleagues and the layout of the office - and some things have completely changed - my focus this time around is content creation instead of community outreach and there are now two adorable dogs in the office everyday. What strikes you most about your colleagues? The youth and authenticity of my colleagues makes going to internship exciting and fun. I don't feel like I have to be extremely proper or business-like, and although they are productive in their work, they still manage to create conversation and get a good laugh in. There's never an air of stress or tension in the room, and they work together as a team and connect like friends and not just professionals running through a business transaction with one another. What strikes you most about the job you're doing? Honestly, I would love content creation as a job because it doesn't even feel like a job. I get to be creative and innovative in designing flat lays and different product shots. When focusing on capturing and editing a product flat lay, the day goes by so quickly and I'm able to enjoy what I'm doing. I think the fact that I'm not dreading internship or my specific job everyday is a good sign. What are you looking forward to during your internship? I'm really looking forward to learning more and gaining skills in post production and design. I think I have amateur level knowledge for the photography process, and have definitely learned a lot over this past year, but I do believe that I could learn a lot more about Photoshop, Lightroom, and the design that goes behind creating successful and beautiful content for clients. What wonderings do you have about your role and/or your workplace? I would love to know what the business and transactional side looks like. I think I get a good view of the creative process, but don't get a complete look at the communication that must happen between Social Supply Co and the clients they work with. I would love to sit in on a meeting with one of their clients and see how the communication unfolds and what the meeting is focused on. I think the relationship between the client and the company is crucial to the success of the company, and I would love to see how that is successfully created.

Where are you going?
For internship, I will be going to Social Supply Company, a media management company based in Carlsbad, CA. This business works to analyze, create, and cultivate a productive and authentic social media presence for their clients. It's a small office space with approximately ten employees, which allows for a more social and community driven company that I get to be a part of. Who is your mentor and what do they do? My mentor is Reis Paluso. He is the co-founder of Social Supply Co, as well as the co-founder of MANDA organic skin care and co-founder of Our Breath Collective. He is a certified Wim Hof Method instructor as well and leads monthly workshops. Describe your project and daily responsibilities. My project is still in the works, but I will hopefully be focusing on content creation this year, as last year my main focus was towards outreach and profile upkeeping. I am hoping that I will be able to create multiple products for clients to use on their Instagram, Facebook, etc, and to create something (program, art, process) to make it easier and more enjoyable for the current employees to do their jobs. What are you excited about learning during this internship experience? I am very excited about learning more about the analytical process of their company, and to learn more about content creation and collaboration with clients. I am hoping to attend more client meetings if possible, and to get more of a glimpse into the relationship between the companies. |
