1) What was your biggest accomplishment in the first recording? Why?
My biggest accomplishment is probably remembering most of the phrases and putting feeling behind them when speaking. I was also very proud that I could go without breaking out in laughter or completely blanking or not understanding my partner when she said something. I studied and practiced and was able to recall and repeat sayings and words. I was not only able to do that, but to sound like I actually understood it.
2) Were you able to speak Spanish for the entire video? What was challenging about it?
Yes, although it took a lot of effort to do it. I had to recall how to say certain things quickly, and if I momentarily forgot, I couldn't say "wait" or "um" and instead had to sit silent or say what I could think of. It was also challenging to not start laughing and to keep up with the other speaker, who would sometimes rush through phrases and make them harder to comprehend. I had to take a second, rerun the sentence in my head, and from there come up with the correct answer all in a decent amount of time. We had to try multiple times to do it right.
3) What would you want to talk about for the next recording? Why?
I would want to talk about something a bit more like normal conversation. I'm not sure what exactly, maybe school or family. It would be nice to have an everyday conversation with a person you already know, without making it boring or introductory. I would love to even talk about what I did that day and learn more in depth about how words are made and put together and then to try and make sentences and conversations from that.
4) What grade would you give yourself individually? Why? (F=0 - A=10)
I would give myself an 8 or 8.5 because I practiced outside of class, but did get a bit distracted sometimes in class once we were done practicing and just waiting to go. Other than those few times of distraction, I worked and focused and practiced, and my partner and I did well together and even though we had to re-record it, because the first time we weren't able to get the full minute, we still completed it.
