Respect
by Sydney Lorton
“Can we share our perspectives without being outcasted?” I ask.
We decide to disregard this question, seeing as it’s no longer appreciated.
I understand how we have our differences in privileges and beliefs
and how no matter how hard we try to separate the ideas from the people, it seems impossible.
So I try to see the people as they are.
Humans in a falling world.
A failing world.
One with controversy and difficulties.
So I suggest to
separate the criticism from the opinion.
Understand the difference between percipience and ignorance.
Not to dictate but to lead.
Not to cross that fine line.
The simplicity of respect.
There is one key to all of these locked doors.
Those who need more,
get more.
Those who already
have enough,
will have enough.
A simple code to unlock the quality needed.
We don’t need to tear
each other, ourselves, and our world apart.
No need for discrimination.
Arguments are accepted,
ideas are presented,
